Local & Regional Organizations
The following organizations commit energy and resources towards environmental stewardship, renewable energy, and sustainable use of resources in our County. LCCSS seeks to partner with these organizations to leverage our effectiveness.
- Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN)
CCAN: a grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Our mission is to educate and mobilize citizens of this region in a way that fosters a rapid societal switch to clean energy and energy-efficient products.

- Loudoun County Green Businesses Directory
goal: to highlight and promote local businesses in Loudoun County (LC) that either offer sustainable services and/or products or are
using sustainable practices within their own business processes.
- Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy
All volunteer organization working to make Loudoun a county where people live in balance with wildlife and act with understanding of the value and importance of nature.
- Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship
A place where nature and history converge to reveal the connections between people and the natural world. Located on 894 acres in the NW corner of Loudoun County, tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains, the site is home to 10 miles of hiking trails which are open from dawn to dusk every day, and camping is available by advance reservation. Become actively involved in stewardship by helping with the Center's volunteer work days.
- Loudoun Locavores
The locavore movement encourages consumers to buy from farmers' markets or even to produce their own food, with the argument that fresh, local products are more nutritious and taste better. This list allows Loudoun locavores to share information with one another.
- Loudoun Progressive Action League (PALs)
A vibrant organization of progressive activists in the greater Loudoun area.
- Sierra Club: Great Falls Group
Great Falls chapter: friends and neighbors working to build healthy, liveable communities, and to conserve and restore our natural environment.
- Virginia League of Conservation Voters (VALCV)
"Preserving Virginia's natural landscape by changing Virginia's political landscape."
- Virginia Conservation Network (VCN)
VCN is made up of 100 member organizations committed to protecting Virginia's natural resources; educates citizens and public office-holders and coordinates legislative initatives.
- Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA) -- Green Building
NVBIA, a trade association committed to serving the housing industry in the Northern Virginia area, maintains a Green Building resources page on their web site.
- Sustainable Loudoun Network
Sustainable Loudoun Network was established in 2000 to ensure development in Loudoun County is fiscally, environmentally and socially responsible.
- Mountain Justice Summer
Mountain Justice Summer is a call to action and a request for help from the people of the Appalachia mountains. Issues covered include citizen property and violence, environmental effects of mountain-top removal mining, alternative energy vs coal energy.
- Reston Environmental Action (REACT)
Reston Environmental Action (REACT) is a non-profit organization mobilizing residents in grassroots activities promoting the environmental and community health of Reston.
Loudoun Farms
Farm Tours and family events, farm products and livestock info... promoting Loudoun's rural economy.
