- Arlington VA Environmental Initiatives
From Air Quality to Energy to Green Buildings and Recycling, Arlington has created programs to bring strategic focus to their policy's effects on the environment. As in Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach and Charlottsville, Arlington's leadership is taking responsibility at the local level for reducing carbon emissions.
- "LEED" Construction
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED standards apply to commercial, industrial and residential buildings, and can be used for estisting building renovation as well as new construction.
- Architecture 2030 and the 2030 Challenge
Architecture 2030, a non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization, was established in response to the global-warming crisis by architect Edward Mazria in 2002. 2030s mission is to rapidly transform the US and global Building Sector from the major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions to a central part of the solution to the global-warming crisis.
The 2030 Challenge asks the global architecture and building community to adopt targets of reducing global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
- Post Carbon Institute (PCI) & Relocalization Network
PCI is a think, action and education tank offering research, project tools, education and information to implement proactive strategies to adapt to an energy constrained world.
The Relocalization Network supports Local Post Carbon Groups as they work to develop and implement the strategy of Relocalization in their communities.
LCCSS is a supporter of Post Carbon Institute.
