1. Introductions
2. Tony Noerpel presented the proposed agenda which was accepted with the addition of 15 minutes for Timothy Wyant to talk about his meeting with State Senator Joe May and State Representative Poisson.
3. Tony Noerpel presented a list of suggested names. After brief discussion, Gina Farber suggested we leave it as it is and this was unanimous. Gina also suggested that we change the name of the email reflector list server to LCCSS and that was accepted. Timothy Wyant took the action to effect the name changes on the reflector.
4. Tony Noerpel presented the proposed mission statement. After modification the following mission statement was unanimously adopted:
The LCCSS promotes the development of a local community economy based
on environmental stewardship and the sustainable use of resources.
5. By-Laws
Tony Noerpel proposed that we form a by-laws committee and let them work on that for a few months or a year. That was agreed. Tony Noerpel volunteered to be on the committee. Otto Gutenson suggested a few similar organizations whose by-laws we could adapt fairly easily. There was a discussion regarding whether we needed by-laws. Since this process will take a year anyway, we can re-evaluate this as the group grows.
6. Program
Charles Hinckly proposed we form several committees including Program committee and Publicity. Gina Farber volunteered to be chairperson of the publicity committee. Timothy Wyant and Otto Gutenson volunteered to be part of the program committee especially with respect to selecting films. Tony Noerpel volunteered to be chairman of the committee. Everybody had suggestions for speakers and has actions to forward. Tony Noerpel proposed the program described in document LCCSS2d2. This was unanimously accepted as a good base to move forward. Tony Noerpel presented a list of confirmed speakers for our outreach and education programs. Two more have been added to the confirmed list.
It was decided to try for the week of January 15 to hold our first outreach event. We would rent the Rust library auditorium (seats 116) for one evening 7 - 9 PM. Tony Noerpel took the action to get a speaker.
